My Story: Bloody Tower
“Through my roof hole I am watching the final touches being put to the scaffold on Tower Green. It is draped in black, and straw has already been strewn around the block to catch the blood. There is no axe yet. The executioner will bring that. I wonder if Mother will let us watch?” It is February, 1554. Tilly Middleton lives in the greatest castle in England – the Tower of London. It is a palace and a fortress, but also a prison. Tomorrow a lady will be executed: Lady Jane Grey, Queen for just nine days, sentenced to a traitor’s death at the age of sixteen. not for me
I have to say, I didn’t really enjoy this book. Yes it had history, and yes it was well written. But it was depressing. All those deaths! I know it really happened. But personally, I wish I hadn’t read it. I’d rather like to hear about the great things in History, not the most bloody.

loved it
I read this because I love diaries and it was sitting in the classroom waiting for someone to pick it up and read it. So I did. And I must say this and a few others in the series got me hooked on History too! It’s probably better for girls and there is a set for boys but this book is brill… It made you feel like you were there and it was happening around you..it’s great!

loved it
This book is a REALLY good. The only thing is that it’s not the kind of book for children who are are a bit screamish when it comes to blood. It has graphic description of executions and burnings and things like that. I would rate this book for children over the age of 8 but do believe that it is very good at telling you what’s going on.

loved it
I loved this book. It made me feel like I was an actual Tudor. with ups and downs and family tragedies, this is the book to read.
