Stig of the Dump

Barney is always wandering off… and one day he wanders to an abandoned chalk-pit used as a rubbish dump – and tumbles over the edge! He lands in a cave, and finds himself staring at a boy with shaggy hair and bright black eyes. Nobody believes that Barney has met a boy in the rubbish dump – a boy who wears a rabbit-skin and speaks in grunts. But what ancient Stone Age secrets does Stig hide? Barney finds out one night when they travel to a time very long ago, where Stig’s tribe is building a mysterious circle made of stones…

This book made me emotional as Stig is a sad character who has obviously not seen humans for a long time. I think Top Gear, my favourite show copied Stig as in the book Stig is an unemotional character who doesn’t show many if any feelings just like in Top Gear.

In my class, we’re reading this book as a class read and I find it ever so boring. Instead I make my own stories in my head. The stig of the dump storyline doesn’t makes sense and is rubbish. 1 star.
