Earwig and the Witch

2 Apr 2012

When Earwig is sent away from the orphanage and enslaved by a wicked witch, can she fight back with a talking cat – and a little bit of magic? Earwig and the Witch is a magical story from award-winning author Diana Wynne Jones, who sadly died in 2011.

Our reviewer Charlotte, age 9, rated it “5 out of 5 stars. Read it in one go and didn’t want to put it down!” Here’s what she had to say:

“My favourite part was when Earwig couldn’t see where she was putting her hand and put one on her forehead and one in her mouth!

Earwig was my favourite character because she’s a bit like me. She knows how to get her way around things.

What age group? 6-9

Girl or boy? Probably more towards girls but some boys would enjoy it.”
