Monday 20th March is the day of the spring equinox in 2017 – in other words, the first day of spring!
After a chilly winter with short days and long nights, on the day of the spring equinox there are exactly 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness. The days will keep getting longer (and the nights will keep getting shorter) until the day of the summer solstice in June.
