The Power of Five: Nightrise

Orphaned twin brothers Scott and Jamie can read minds. They perform their mind-reading act on stage each night in a dingy Nevada theatre – until the day a sinister stranger comes to see the show. Suddenly Scott is kidnapped by the sinister corporation Nightrise, leading Jamie alone and on the run, wanted for murder. Soon he is embroiled in the American presidential campaign, trying to break into the US prison system… and making a terrifying mission into the heart of darkness. Separated and hunted, how will the Gatekeepers stop the Old Ones this time?

    Book: Nightrise

    Author: Anthony Horowitz

    Publisher: Walker Books

Darkness covers the Earth. The Old Ones have returned. The battle must begin.

This is the third book in the Power of Five series by Anthony Horowitz.

I love the covers of these books! They’re so dark and spooky, but magical at the same time!

Nightrise, unlike the first to power of five books, is not told by Matt, one of the five. It is told by Jamie, one of two telepathic twins, who are also part of the five. Jamie and Scott work at a show called The Circus of the Mind. They don’t know who they are or where they came from, but what they do know is that they have special powers. Even though Scott and Jamie are twins, Jamie feels that Scott is the one who always protects him, picks him up when he’s feeling down, promises that things will be all right-but now Scott is giving up. Jamie doesn’t know what to do. Then the mysterious and sinister Nightrise Corporation show up, and kidnap Scott. Jamie is framed for murder and he realizes that the only way for him to survive is to use his powers, even if he can’t control them…

Jamie befriends a women called Alicia, and helps her to rescue her son, David, from a prison for “special” people. Then Jamie is catapulted into the past to face the Old Ones who are at the height of their power. Jamie learns that he is one of five gatekeepers and he has to fight to save the world from eternal chaos. The five are now together and must fight the massed forces of evil. And they must win.

I loved this book. It was packed full of suspense and drama and had a great story line throughout.

I’d recommend this book to everyone who loves a good read.

    My star rating is 5/5.

Great book! But you must have to read the first one and second one to understand mainly what’s been happening!
