White Boots
When at last Harriet saw what her present was she hugged the boots and skates to her and almost sang. “My own white boots and skates. Proper white boots!”
When Harriet is told to take up ice-skating to improve her health, at first she thinks she’ll never pick it up. Then she meets Lalla Moore, a vivacious young skating star who can dance like a living whirlwind on the ice. But as Harriet finds herself getting better and better under Lalla’s eye, she realises that Lalla is jealous of her new-found talent. Harriet could be a star on the ice. She’s all ready to shine. She longs to skate – but does she want to spare her friend’s feelings even more? A timeless tale of friendship set on the glittering white ice.

I LOVE this book. I adore Harriet and I really love this book and the other books by the same author (eg. Ballet Shoes). Brilliant plot, great characters and themes of friendship and jealousy make it fascinating.

This book is one of my top five favourites. It is hard to understand at first but if you carry on it gets even more interesting. It is wonderfully written by a lady called Noel Streatfeild. This book is a classic and is lots of people’s favourites. I recommend this book to people who are interested in ice skating and real life novels. People who are 8+ will find this book incredble,I thought it was terrific.

I great story about skating and friendship that I can relate to. My favourite character was Lalla, she was sometimes moody but quirky and fun when she was with Harriet. Noel Streatfeild is a brilliant author to come up with such a brill book!
