Ice Lolly
Laurel is only twelve, but she’s alone in the world – orphaned and shipped off to live with relatives she hardly knows. Her new family don’t seem to care about anything Laurel loves, including books and Mr Pooter, her old marmalade-coloured cat. So Laurel decides that she won’t feel anything. She’ll become Ice Lolly, the girl with the frozen heart: the girl nobody can hurt. But that’s before a special friend and a mysterious letter open up new possibilities for Ice Lolly – and for Mr Pooter! A heart-melting gem of a novel by Jean Ure.

This is amazing,It was so good I read it all in one go. It is defiantly an older reader book though. It made ma think how much a person dying can effect you.

I thought this book would be a good book – the main character is 12, like me and loves reading and cats. Even reading the first few pages I enjoyed it but then…. it is not heart- warming- it just isn’t. Laurel is embarrassing she is always going on about classic books going on and on about things that aren’t even funny… and then she says : “I’m NOT SAD.. an android I can’t feel anything!” when her mum died!!! I couldn’t finish it. it was so bad. put me off jean ure too! I would recommend NEVER TO READ IT!!!
