The Mystery of the Burnt Cottage

Mystery is afoot when the cottage in Mr Hick’s garden is destroyed in a great blaze one night. The Five Find-Outers are sure that the fire was no accident – and Mr Goon, the local policeman, thinks so too. Though Mr Goon isn’t at all pleased to have the five young friends nosing in on his case, there seem to be plenty of suspects. Mr Peeks, Mr Hick’s valet, has just been rudely dismissed; Mr Smellie argued with Mr Hick the day of the fire; there’s a suspicious-looking tramp in the fields nearby. Even Mr Hick’s housekeeper has a reason to have done it. With so many possible culprits about, how will the young sleuths reveal the real one?
