Maisie Hitchins: The Case of the Stolen Sixpence
Maisie Hitchins longs for a bit of adventure. There’s not usually much to be found at home in her grandmother’s boarding house. She dreams of following in the footsteps of her hero, the famous detective Gilbert Carrington, and she finally gets her chance when she rescues a puppy in peril. Planning to track down the puppy’s cruel former owner, she follows Gilbert Carrington’s lead, copying her idol’s detective skills to crack the case. But things don’t quite go as planned, and Maisie soon finds herself entangled in an odd mystery involving stolen sausages, pilfered halfpennies and a fast-paced bicycle chase…

Firstly my favourite part was when Maisie found out that an old man tried to drown a dog that Maisie rescued. Maisie called him Eddie. Secondly my favourite character was George. George is a boy who worked at Harrowbys but he lost his job. But I’m so glad that he had his job back after being blamed for stealing sixpence. Thirdly I would like to say I absolutely loved this book! I think this book would be good for children that like an adventure and solving mysteries. I liked the entire book.
