Halo

Washed ashore as a baby in long-ago Ancient Greece, Halo is raised by the strangest, most majestic guardians: a family of centaurs. Although her true identity remains a mystery, she is loved as one of their own. But when Halo is dragged away by fishermen, a wild adventure begins. A violent war is coming, and Halo finds herself at the mercy of mighty and fearful Spartan warriors. She soon realizes that if she is to survive, she must live in disguise – as a boy. As she battles to hide her secret, neither magic nor courage can guarantee survival. But whatever happens, Halo must never forget her quest to find out who she is, and where she really came from… An epic, heart-stopping historical fantasy from the bestselling author of Lionboy.

I’ve read this once and am reading it again. I love it! It really focuses on how even though they were all from the same country, being a woman or from a different city could really effect how you were treated.
