Torak has finally destroyed the demon bear which threatened his world, but his quest is far from over. Now a strange, creeping sickness stalks the forest. The breath of summer is poisoned. Only Torak can find the cure. He sets forth for the Seal Clan’s island, where legend says he will find help – and stumbles into a world utterly unlike his own. Here life moves to the rhythms of the sea: the Seals build shelters from whale bones, and skim the waves in fast, beautiful kayaks. Torak is welcomed by the kindly Seal Mage, Teneris, and his kinsman Bale. But all is not as it seems, and Torak must keep all his wits about him to judge who is friend or foe…
