David Walliams Demon Dentist is possibly the best book that I have read since Christmas. It is really funny- I would compare it to Roald Dahl.

My favourite character is Alfie because despite caring for his dad because his dad is disabled. Despite being really poor and living on freebies from Raj’s shop, he still lives life happily on always looks on the bright side. If I was a parent, Alfie is the sort of child I want. Kind and caring.

Another of my favourite characters is Raj, the shop keeper. After appearing in Mr Stink and Billionaire Boy (just to name two of David Walliams wonderful novels!) Raj is as funny as ever. I love Raj because he has no care in the world. When Alfie pulls out one of Raj’s teeth, Raj does not care. He’s afraid of almost everything which is really funny- especially in a scene in which he breaks into Alfies’ house to spy on the mysterious person who is placing horrible and disgusting objects such as eyeballs and bats wings in place of teeth.

Usually this is where I do "my favourite scene is..." but today I am going to do something different.

The most hilarious scene in my opinion was when Raj gives Alfie a bag of just coffee Revels. He goes home to find Winnie (his social worker) wants a revel to find they are her least favourite Revel. She has another one, another one, another one and another one to find they are all coffee Revels. She then gets really angry.

Another of the most hilarious scenes is right at the beginning when Alfie was younger. In this scene Alfie has toothache and needs a tooth pulled out. The whole village has to get involved to pull the tooth out. Eventually they do this and everybody falls on the floor. Unfortunately it was the wrong tooth.

I rate this book 10/10. I would recommend this book to anyone from 9-99. It is mysterious and hilarious. Purely the writing of a genius!

“In this story Alfie and his Dad live alone and are very poor, to not help the fact, Alfie’s Dad can’t get a job. Alfie’s Dad is disabled and uses a wheelchair, this means that he can’t look after Alfie that well and instead Alfie has to look after his Dad.

Alfie doesn’t like trips to the dentist; in fact he has only been ONCE! Which means that Alfie’s teeth are really, really bad. In this story lots of kids are getting horrible gruesome presents when they lost a tooth instead of a nice new shiny coin from the tooth fairy. When Alfie went to school one day, they had a ’ special guest’ assembly this time instead of the usual police man it was the new dentist who had arrived in their town. At first the only the only unusual thing about the dentist was that her dentist name was ‘Mummy’ but then it got worse . . ….

I think that this story is very interesting because it adds lots of description and it makes you feel like you are in the character’s perspective. I think it was better than the other previous books written by David Walliam’s because this book has more adventure in it and mystery. My favourite part in the story was when at the start the author is describing Alfie’s only trip to the dentist because I found it very funny and exciting, I think this because it makes a very clear picture in your head of the lengths they went to pull his tooth out.

I think that the age group for this book is 10-13 because some of the words that they use may be a little complicated for children under 10. I recommended it highly.”

“Alfred hates going to the dentist,so he came up with an easy solution he just doesn’t go! So when his new social worker Winnie gets him an appointment with the new dentist things just don’t seem right…..........

I really liked all the characters in this book especially Gabz! I love the way Raj is in all of David Walliams books. A perfect book for Christmas and hopefully we’ll be seeing more of David in the near future!”

My sister bought this book. Then me and my sister started to read it aloud in the car so my mum could hear. I got so into it the others are left behind. I am racing throught the book even though it is SOOO long. I feel everybody who ISN’T scared of the dentist should read it and understand what REAL dentists are like!!! I definitely rate this book FIVE STARS!!!!!!!

Now that I finished the book, I realized jow much adventure this story contains. It took me a few days, because I woulden’t stop reading it. I still rate this book  stars!!!
